The scoping for the Unit is building a picture to understanding of existing structures and barriers faced in UK Government Departments equality Units and centres, the needs of wider stakeholders through the Welsh Government Forums and the practical challenges within Welsh Government for policy officials and analysts.
The research has been pulling together key themes to highlight the key considerations for the Unit(s). The thematic analysis is nearly complete, the next stages are identifying initial resource needs and how the Unit will complement existing planned work.
Once the new government has formed, a paper will be presented to the Cabinet as a priority that outlines initial recommended structure and recommendations to inform implementation of the Unit(s).
