Wales plant health sentinel site network

The Animal and Plant Health Agency carry out plant health inspections at public parks and gardens twice a year.

The parks feature thousands of different common and less well known plants and trees. The inspections note potential issues with damaging and regulated plant pests and diseases.

There are 22 sentinel sites, located in each local authority region. The gardens and parks form the Sentinel Site network. They are important monitoring sites acting as an early warning system for plant pests and diseases, forming a surveillance network.
