Today I am publishing the updated Ministerial Responsibilities document, which sets out changes made to the Ministerial portfolios.
I have made these changes to ensure the Welsh Government is in the best possible position to respond to the difficult months ahead. The Minister for Health and Social Services Vaughan Gething will continue to lead the health service coronavirus response and oversight of NHS delivery and performance.
In her new role as Minister for Mental Health, Wellbeing and the Welsh Language, Eluned Morgan’s responsibilities will include mental health services, dementia, substance misuse, veterans’ health, patient experience and the obesity strategy.
The Ministerial Responsibilities document sets out some other changes between portfolios.
The majority of the international relations responsibilities will come into the First Minister’s portfolio, but the Counsel General and Minister for European Transition will take responsibility for shadowing the UK’s international trade negotiations, and the Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales will have responsibility for the promotion of export and Wales as a location for business and investment.
Sustainable resources and waste policy and access to the countryside, including responsibility for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Parks, moves to the Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs’ portfolio.
Cross-government digital policy and strategy moves to the Deputy Minister for Economy and Transport. The Deputy Minister for Housing and Local Government will oversee social partnership, including the Welsh Government’s draft Social Partnership Bill.
