1. Social distancing
Google COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports
Mobility reduced significantly at the end of March, but steadily increased until the summer. The last 2 weeks has seen reductions in mobility and people spending more time at home.
2. Food parcels
The Food Parcel Delivery scheme ended on 16 August 2020. Final data can be found in last month’s report.
3. Discretionary Assistance Fund
Between 18 March and 8 October 2020 85,443 COVID-19 related Emergency Assistance Payments, with a total paid value of £5,424,430.
Recording started on 18 March 2020. COVID-19 related reasons applicants are presenting include:
- having to stop or reduce work
- delay to benefit claim
- increased energy/food costs (family at home)

Following the 1 May 2020 announcement of increased funding, applications will be treated with greater discretion and flexibility, when dealing with COVID-19 hardship claims. Further background to the Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF).

4. Support for business
The COVID-19 non-domestic rates (NDR) and start-up grant schemes have both closed for applications. Phases 1 and 2 of the Economic Resilience Fund (ERF) have also closed for applications. Data relating to these can be found in last month’s report. Applications for Phase 3 of the ERF will commence the week beginning 26 October 2020 and will remain open for four weeks.
5. Third Sector Resilience Fund
Provides direct financial support for third sector organisations which need help to get through this crisis and by paying their bills and easing cash flow.
110 applications have been approved, and £4.69M paid through the third sector resilience fund.
