Data on the number and value of claims made, up to 31 July 2020.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have published the number of claims made to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) and the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) up to 31 July 2020.

CJRS

  • 400,800 employments in Wales have been furloughed through the CJRS scheme; this is a take up rate of 31%, the joint second lowest of all the UK countries and English regions.
  • 78% of employments in Accommodation & food services and 77% of employments in Arts, entertainment, recreation and other services have been furloughed through CJRS.

SEISS

  • 110,000 people in Wales have claimed a SEISS grant, which is 78% of the eligible population.
  • The total value of all claims made in Wales up to 31 July is £295 million.
  • Self-employed people working in construction in Wales accounted for the largest share of all claims (29%) and had one of the highest take up rates (85%).
