This data is management information provided to us by apprenticeship providers, combined with records from the Lifelong Learning Wales Record (LLWR). It has not undergone the same level of quality assurance as official statistics.
Main points
- 6,170 (18%) apprentices were still furloughed by 24 July 2020.
- The number of furloughed apprentices has fallen from 6,575 on 10 July 2020.
- 175 apprentices had been made redundant but remain in learning whilst their provider tries to source an alternative employer.
- 40 apprentices had their apprenticeship terminated due to redundancy.
The apprentices most affected have been:
- male
- white or mixed race
- those not studying higher apprenticeships
- those working for companies with less than 50 employees
- those employed by the private sector
