Main points

  • Gross disposable household income (GDHI) per head in Wales in 2018 was £17,100 or 81.0% of the UK figure, down 0.2 percentage points relative to the UK from 2017.
  • GDHI per head in Wales in 2018 was the second lowest amongst the UK countries and English regions.
  • Between 2017 and 2018, Wales saw the ninth largest percentage increase in GDHI per head out of the UK countries and English regions, up 4.4%, compared to a 4.6% increase for the UK. The largest increase was in London (up 5.2%).
  • Since 1999, Wales saw the second lowest percentage increase in GDHI per head out of the UK countries and English regions, up 72.1% compared to a 82.7% increase across the UK.
