Overnight domestic GB trips
There were 8.5 million overnight domestic GB trips to Wales in the first nine months of 2019, which was an increase of 4.8%, generating expenditure of £1,660 million.
Domestic GB tourism day visits
During the first nine months of 2019, there were 65.4 million Tourism Day visits in Wales, which was a decrease of 13%. These visits generated expenditure of £2,647 million.
International Visitors
The number of international trips to Wales during the first nine months of 2019 rose by 4% to 820,000. Visitor spending was £358 million, which was a 12% increase on same time last year.
Wales accommodation occupancy rates January to September average
Hotels: 67%
Guesthouse/B&Bs: 40%
Self-catering: 61%
Hostels: 55%
Caravan Holiday Homes (April-September): 91%
Touring Caravans and Camping Parks (April-September): 42%
Wales Tourism Barometer
Wave 4 (November 2019) indicated that 73% of businesses had seen greater or equal levels of visitors compared with the same period in 2018 (27% greater, 46% equal).
