Original consultation
We propose to bring additional internal floor space for retail within the control of the planning system.
Consultation description
The Welsh Government is proposing changes to the development management system. We are now seeking your views on our proposal to require a planning application for additional internal floor space over 200 sq metres in retail developments.
To do this we will be commencing the provision of Section 49 (Development to include certain internal operations) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (PCPA) 2004 by introducing subordinate legislation which will set the relevant criteria and thresholds in Wales.
