These directions reinstate the Technology Appraisal Guidance issued in April 2003 by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence "Patient Education Models for Diabetes" (No. 60) and to make it a statutory requirement for local health boards and NHS trusts to make funding available to implement the guidance from 1 April 2006.
