Sets out the UK governments' approach to sustainable forestry.
It includes standards and requirements, regulations and monitoring, and reporting. The UK forestry standard works with:
- the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, and
- the Environment (Wales) Act 2016
to ensure Wales’ long-term well-being and the sustainable management of our natural resources. Our aim is:
- a prosperous economy
- a healthy and resilient environment
- vibrant, cohesive communities
Sustainable forestry
The UK Forestry Standard supports sustainable forestry management and creation. We manage our woodlands and forests:
- to meet our commitments to sustainability
- to meet current needs
- to enable future generations to meet their needs
- balancing their environmental, economic and social benefits
All woodlands managed by Natural Resources Wales are certified under the UK Forestry Standard.
