Education Secretary Kirsty Williams has announced £4.075 million of new funding to relocate Brynmenyn Primary school.
This was published under the 2016 to 2021 administration of the Welsh Government
The new school will be able to accommodate more pupils and includes facilities for 60 nursery places. The original building was built in 1913 and doesn’t have a playing field. The project will cost £8.15m in total with Bridgend council providing the rest.
Brynmenyn currently has 172 children and 29 nursery pupils.
The investment is part of the Welsh Government’s £1.4 bn 21st Century Schools and Education Programme, which aims to update school buildings across Wales.
Around £50 million of investment has been earmarked for Bridgend County through the programme, half of which will come from the Welsh Government.

“I am delighted to announce £4m of Welsh Government investment that will allow Brynmenyn Primary school to move into new, better facilities that will double the number of nursery places. The new school will be bigger than the current one and mean it can meet the demand for places as the area’s population grows.
“We will continue to raise school standards and invest in our school buildings to the best environment possible for our children.”
