Visit Wales and partners will be showcasing the best the country has to offer during Wales Year of Legends 2017 at the British Tourism and Travel Show
The travel show is the UK’s leading travel trade event for the domestic tourism industry. More than 250 exhibitors and over 3000 visitors – key decision makers and trade - are expected during the two days.Economy Secretary, Ken Skates said:
“Spring is a busy time in the travel event calendar. In the last few weeks Visit Wales has been busy selling Wales at ExploreGB and at ITB Berlin, to an international audience. This show is our opportunity to speak especially to top level travel buyers including Group Travel Organisers, Coach Operators and Tour Operators primarily from the domestic market.Further product developments and openings will continue to attract attention for Wales during 2017 as Zip World’s new ride Fforest Coaster opens after Easter and a brand new inland wakeboard park will open in Pembrokeshire. The Show will also be used as a platform to raise awareness of the single biggest sporting event in the World coming to Cardiff – when Wales hosts the UEFA Champions League Final in June.
“Wales’ presence at these shows is important in order to establish and progress relationships with this influential sector and to keep Wales front of mind when looking for new destinations for their clients.
“Attendance at these shows is part of a wider marketing effort to sell Wales to the world like never before. We’ve recently launched Visit Wales’s Year of Legends campaign. The £5m campaign is Visit Wales’s most ambitious marketing programme in recent years, and a cutting-edge television and cinema advert – featuring Hollywood actor, Luke Evans - is just one part of a major multi-market, multi-channel approach.“Tourism in Wales is in a strong position, there was a 12% increase in international visitors to Wales and a 51% increase in day visitor expenditure during 2016, we now look forward to sustain these figures during the Year of Legends.”
