During the next few weeks, people will have their last opportunity to have their say on the long term plans for the four monuments that make up the Castle and Town Wall of King Edward in Gwynedd World Heritage Sites before the public consultation ends on 09 January.
The events, which take place on 05, 06, 07 and 14 December at Caernarfon, Beaumaris, Conwy and Harlech will be the final range of activities undertaken throughout the year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of receiving international status. The informal drop in sessions will be an opportunity for people to learn more about the sites, and provide views and comments on how they should be managed.
Ken Skates, Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure said:
“These important events are about getting communities to really influence and feel a part of these world renowned sites. We’ve been able to show how these sites can play an important role in modern day life and provide positive contributions that make a real impact on people. I want people to have their say on how they can continue to do so.
Events such as the lighting of the Castles during the Euro’s and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, the huge economic upturn with the award winning improvements at Harlech Castle, the Weeping Window poppy event and the recent national conference for UK world heritage sites shows how important these sites are and will continue to be .”
The 4 castles are cared for by Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service. More than 2 million people visit the 130 sites in the care of Cadw, and Caernarfon, Conwy, Beaumaris and Harlech attract more than 600,000 visitors annually, bringing in over £8million to the local economy.

- 05 December - 15:00 - 17:00 - Drop-in session - Caernarfon Library
- 06 December - 14:00 - 17:00 - Drop-in session - David Hughes Community Centre, Beaumaris
- 07 December - 14:00 - 17:00 - Drop-in session - Conwy Castle Visitor Centre
- 14 December - 14:00-17:00 - Drop-in session - Harlech Castle Visitor Centre.
