Welsh Government’s monumental show of support for history making team

The video, which features the castles of Beaumaris, Conwy, Caernarfon and Caerphilly as well as Castell Coch and Tintern Abbey, is set to a unique harp version of football fan favourite ‘Zombie Nation’.

Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure, Ken Skates, who is also responsible for Major Events and Elite Sport in Wales, said:

"This is a fantastic time to be a Welsh football fan and as a nation we are so proud of what this team has achieved.

"We entered this competition with a real feeling that qualification was just the start and following our incredible 2-1 win against Slovakia last Saturday that certainly seems to be the case.

“As our closest geographical neighbour in the UK, the Wales vs England match was always going to be an eagerly anticipated game. We have an incredibly talented team and will certainly be aiming for a win against England today. I can't wait to see our players run onto the pitch in Lens and once again represent Wales on the world stage."

The Cabinet Secretary has also promised that if the Welsh team is successful in getting into the final 16 of the tournament, the Welsh Government will open the doors, free of charge, to all directly-Cadw managed sites on Sunday 26 June.

He added:

“I would be delighted to be able to offer free entry to Cadw’s historic castles and monuments for this one day if the team reaches the final 16.

“If we do get that far, I hope the people of Wales will take full advantage of this opportunity and enjoy celebrating our country’s success within the walls of our most iconic buildings.”

In addition to the Millennium Centre, Senedd and Cathays Park in Cardiff, the following Cadw sites have been illuminated:
