National Survey for Wales: datasets and alternative viewer formats

For more detailed analysis, anonymised versions of the National Survey for Wales datasets, together with supporting documentation, have been deposited with the UK Data Archive (some information is removed to ensure confidentiality is preserved). These datasets may be accessed by registered users for specific research projects.

The following datasets are available from the archive:

• April 2013 to March 2014
• April 2012 to March 2014 (2 year combined data)
• April 2014 to March 2015
• April 2016 to March 2017
• April 2017 to March 2018
• April 2018 to March 2019
• April 2017 to March 2019 (2 year combined data)
• April 2019 to March 2020
• May 2020 to March 2021

To assist those who wish to analyse National Survey data, we have included a Data User Guide and variable catalogues in the documentation for each survey year in the UK Data Archive. The Data User Guide provides some background to the survey, describes the datasets available, and provides guidance on how to undertake basic analysis. The variable catalogues provide an overview of the National Survey datasets. They allow users to see what variables are available and whether the variables have been deposited in the UK Data Archive.

From time to time, researchers may wish to analyse more detailed data than is available from the UK Data Archive. Requests for such data will be considered on a case by case basis. For further details, contact surveys@gov.wales.
