TermCymru on META-SHARE

We've updated the copy of TermCymru on the META-SHARE website. You can now download a complete copy of the database, including all our recent additions and revisions. The details are on the TermCymru on META-SHARE page. - 1 November 2024

Translation memories

We have recommenced publishing downloadable TMX translation memory files which can be added to your translation memory system. The new memories are published on separate pages to pre-2021 files, and general translation memories are published on separate pages to legislative ones. In addition to individual files, we also now offer combined files which include all memories. 57 new individual files were published on 14 October. We intend to add new memories monthly.

Cadw monument names

We have published a list of the standardised bilingual names of Cadw monuments. These are the official names recognised and used by Cadw, following standardisation work by the Welsh Language Commissioner’s Place-Names Standardisation Panel in consultation with Cadw.

Searchable resources

  • A searchable database of terms used by Welsh Government translators in their everyday work.

  • Advice and guidance for those translating general texts. You can search specific words or browse by section.

Subject-specific lists

  • Lists of terms in specific fields, including race and ethnicity terms, LGBTQ+ terms, and COVID-19 key terms.

  • Lists of the names of all electoral wards in Wales and the names of all monuments in Cadw's care, as well as information about the List of Standardised Welsh Place-names by the Welsh Language Commissioner.

  • Lists of the names of states, UK Crown Dependencies and UK Overseas Territories.
