The Central Valleys Railway (CVR) Package was developed to encourage modal shift from car to rail through the provision of the improved rail infrastructure.
This is the latest release
Three objectives were set out for the CVR Package.
- Objective 1: Provide enhanced infrastructure to encourage modal shift reducing the level of car usage, particularly single occupancy journeys.
- Objective 2: Enhance accessibility to employment opportunities and key services via sustainable modes, enabling local people to access education and training opportunities and the major employment locations within Wales.
- Objective 3: Reduce harmful greenhouse gas emission levels through additional rail services.
The evaluation examined the implementation and impact of the project. The final report identifies a number of lessons which could help in improving delivery for future rail projects in Wales.
