New deputy chair for Welsh Revenue Authority board

Finance Secretary Mark Drakeford has today announced the appointment of the first deputy chair of the board of the Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA).
Wednesday 12 September 2018

Dyfed Edwards will take up the role of deputy chair with immediate effect. Dyfed has been a non-executive director of the WRA Board since October 2017, when the new tax authority was officially formed by Welsh Government.

Confirming the appointment, Professor Drakeford said:

“I am pleased to confirm the appointment of Dyfed Edwards as the first deputy chair to the WRA board. Dyfed has been involved with the WRA since its formation last year and brings a wealth of experience to the role.”

WRA chair Kathryn Bishop said:

“As we look to mark a year since the formation of the WRA board, we are delighted the Cabinet Secretary has made this appointment. We will continue to work with Dyfed, and wider colleagues, as a new tax authority raising important revenue to support communities across Wales.”

The WRA was the first non-ministerial department to be set-up by the Welsh Government and became operational in April 2018.

Over its first 4 years of operations, the WRA is forecast to collect more than £1 billion of tax revenue, supporting the NHS, schools and social services.
