Professional standards for teachers, leaders, learning support workers (teaching assistants (TAs) and higher level teaching assistants (HLTA)) describe the skills, knowledge and behaviours that characterise excellent practice and support professional growth.
The Professional Standards for Teaching and Leadership reflect practice that is consistent with the realisation of the new curriculum. It is important that ITE students are engaged with professional learning from that start of their career, they should be clear about how it supports their work in relation to the professional standards.
The QTS Standards have statutory force and are set out in legislation.
