Application process

You must assess your client's affordability and sustainability using the Help to Buy - Wales eligibility.

Please ensure that the information you provide at the outset is an accurate picture of customer’s affordability to sustain a Help to Buy – Wales loan long term.

A paper version of the application form and can be printed out, completed, and returned by email or post, along with a copy of the property reservation form, which is usually provided by the property developer.

The application form will need to be signed and dated by your client or clients with a wet signature.

Please ensure the form is completed in full with clear handwriting to avoid delays.

The principles of the Help to Buy – Wales scheme are to provide support to people who want to become home owners, who would not otherwise have access to an affordable mortgage or be able to get onto the property ladder. The scheme should not be used to provide a cost effective loan to those who could otherwise afford to buy their home.

Therefore, any applications which evidence that an applicant could reasonably afford more than 90% of the full purchase price will be declined.
