Health Secretary, Vaughan Gething has today wished everyone working in the NHS and social services in Wales a very happy Christmas
In the lead up to festive period, the Health Secretary has visited Nevill Hall Accident and Emergency department to see how they are coping with the additional pressures that come with the winter period. He also dropped in to Morriston Hospital in Swansea to meet and speak with young people at the Children’s Ward; many of whom will be having treatment over Christmas.
Vaughan Gething said:
“This is a particularly busy time of the year for every part of our NHS. Staff in primary care, our hospitals, emergency services and the social care sector will all be working tirelessly over Christmas to deliver a health service we can all be proud of.
“Throughout the year I receive a number of letters praising staff in our NHS for the care they, or their loved ones, have received. One word always stands out in those letters, that’s compassion.
“Compassion from staff that has made the difference to someone’s recovery, compassion that’s helped when people have been facing difficult times in their lives.
“This Christmas, my message to NHS staff in Wales is simple: thank you.
“To everyone delivering care every single day of the year, that hard work and commitment to others deserves recognition and our gratitude. We can’t do it with out you and I consider it a privilege to work for you. Happy Christmas.”
