The Health and Social Care (Quality and Engagement) (Wales) Bill was introduced into the National Assembly for Wales on 17 June 2019.

The bill will:

  • ensure that NHS bodies and ministers think about the quality of health services when making decisions
  • ensure NHS bodies are open and honest with patients and service users
  • create a citizen voice body to enable people to provide feedback on health and social services
  • enable the appointment of vice chairs for NHS trusts

If passed by the National Assembly, it will become law in summer 2020.
