Find out about being a Principal Research Officer in Welsh Government

Principal Research Officers (Grade 7) are responsible for leading research teams and for developing and overseeing programmes of research within their respective policy areas.

Main duties include: 

  • working across departments to identify, prioritise and deliver against evidence needs
  • establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
  • providing Ministers with evidence-based advice
  • supporting the development and wellbeing of their research team
