Housing and regeneration grants

Grants and funding programmes that improve housing, reduce homelessness and strengthen communities.

The Homebuy scheme can provide a loan of up to 50% to help people, who would otherwise be unable to do so, buy a suitable home.

The Mortgage Rescue Scheme helps homeowners avoid mortgage repossession where this will result in homelessness.

Houses into Homes scheme loans bring empty houses or commercial buildings back into use as homes for sale or rent.

Community Facilities Programme is a capital grant fund that aims to develop and improve facilities for communities in order to tackle poverty and its effects.

Coastal Communities Fund grants are available to business and community groups to fund projects that boost the economic prospects of Welsh coastal communities.

Tidy Towns (external link) funding is available for Keep Wales Tidy and community groups to help people make their area cleaner, safer and tidier.

Many schemes are run by local authorities, including:

  • The Supporting People Programme provides housing support so that vulnerable people can live as independently as possible.
  • The Safe Routes in Communities fund encourages greater access to walking and cycling.
  • Tranquil, greener and cleaner places grants to create tranquil green spaces and improve air quality for poorer communities.
