Tyres and associated services: supporting Welsh SMEs
We are grateful to all stakeholders that helped inform the procurement strategy for the re-tender of our tyres and associated services framework agreement. Thanks to their input, we have developed a lotting structure that facilitates Welsh SME and local supplier participation.
As part of the process to establish this agreement, we ensured that the invitation to tender aligned with key policy initiatives, including the Well-being of Future Generations and Community Benefits. We also worked closely with the Welsh Government’s Decarbonisation team to help inform the specification requirements.
Five successful Welsh SMEs were appointed to the framework, which offers increased flexibility for customer organisations due to the numbers appointed to each lot. Successful suppliers have pledged to recycle tyres through more effective measures such as road surfacing material.
Our current framework agreement commenced on 1 April 2020. For more information, please e-mail NPSFleet@gov.wales.
