If you live in a high-rise flat everyone is responsible for the safety of the building.

Building owner

The building owner has responsibility for the products used in the building. For example fire doors. These must meet the required standards.

Residents

Front doors fitted in flats are often fire doors. If you live in a flat you are responsible for keeping your flat and fire door in good condition. The fire door must be keep closed and not wedged open.

You should not change fire doors without the building owners’ permission.
