Includes the number of new and open incidents, herd prevalence and recurrence.
This is the latest release in the series: Incidence of tuberculosis (TB) in cattle in Great Britain
The interactive dashboard shows the latest epidemiological surveillance data. It is collected by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) through their administrative system (SAM).
Data presented in the dashboard includes:
- the number of new, closed and open TB incidents
- herd incidence, herd prevalence and animal level risk
- breakdown recurrence rate
- percentage of Officially TB-Free herds
- number of animals slaughtered
The PDF dashboard gives a snapshot of the disease picture for the quarter, in a printable format.
The APHA Wales epidemiological team cleanse and quality assure the data. It is used for management purposes. So, these statistics are not classified as Official Statistics. Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs publish national and official statistics using a monthly extract, downloaded directly from SAM. This has less data cleansing to ensure publication in a timely manner. As a result, small discrepancies may arise when comparing.
On 1 November 2021, there was a temporary reclassification of the three Denbighshire/Conwy Valley spatial units CL1, CL2 and GW1, as part of the Intermediate TB Area North (ITBAN) from the Low TB Area. This change is now reflected in the data within this dashboard. Further information has been provided on the Bovine TB dashboard pages.
