I wrote to you on 19 May regarding your request for information on the M4 Newport road closures.

Information requested

You have asked for the following information:

1. Total number of nightly road closures on M4 between Junction 28 (Tredegar Park) and Junction 24 (Coldra interchange), resulting in the diversion of traffic through the Southern Distribution Road, Newport (SDR) for the year to date 2022. 

2. Future planned nightly road closures on M4 between Junction 28 (Tredegar Park) and Junction 24 (Coldra interchange), resulting in diversion of traffic through the Southern Distribution Road, Newport (SDR) for the remainder of 2022.

Our response

For question one, there have been 19 nightly road closures for the year to date.

For question two, there will be a further 10 nightly road closures this year.
