Dear
ATISN 16138 – Emails to the First Minister
Thank you for your request which I received on 7 March 2022.
We have tried to answer your queries as best we can, some of which fall outside the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The First Minister’s correspondence is managed by his private office. As we have previously outlined via response to multiple FOI requests, the First Minister receives correspondence on all aspects of policy within the Welsh Government’s power, and often any other political or economic issue, from any resident of Wales and beyond.
Correspondence will, therefore, be routed to allow the Welsh Government to provide an appropriate answer on the points raised – we provide some details here Contacting Welsh Government ministers | GOV.WALES
As you have previously stated the correspondence in question does not require an answer. At the time of your initial request, it had not been processed, so no information existed as was initially outlined. Since your initial request, as you had indicated that you were not expecting a reply, the e-mail has been filed within the completed/info subfolder of the mailbox by a member of the First Minister’s private office. We do not create information on who has moved e-mails within a mailbox automatically. Therefore no further information is available as it has not left the mailbox or been otherwise processed.
The request you sent me contains personal information about you - for example, your name and address. The Welsh Government will be the controller for this information and, in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation, it will be processed in order to fulfil our public task and meet our legal obligations under the Act to provide you with a response. We will only use this personal information to deal with your request and any matters which arise as a result of it. We will keep your personal information and all other information relating to your request for three years from the date on which your request is finally closed. Your personal information will then be disposed of securely.
Under data protection legislation, you have the right:
- to be informed of the personal data we hold about you and to access it
- to require us to rectify inaccuracies in that data
- to (in certain circumstances) object to or restrict processing
- for (in certain circumstances) your data to be ‘erased’
- to (in certain circumstances) data portability
- to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) who is our independent regulator for data protection.
