ATISN 16036 – Blood products

Thank you for your request to the Welsh Government for information under the Freedom of Information Act (2000) received on 02 February 2022. You requested the following: 

  1. Please could you give to me the figures/data for discarded platelets, from the Welsh Blood Service, due to activated platelets and/or aggregates. 
  2. How many platelets have been discarded because "clumping" has already occurred before transfusion and/or pooling.
  3. Please can you provide the previous 5yrs data: 2017-2022 (part of)

Unfortunately the Welsh Government does not hold the information you have requested. I suggest you contact the Welsh Blood Service directly who should be able to provide you with the information you have asked for.  Their contact details are:
