The draft Agricultural Wages Order 2021 is under consideration. The current Agricultural Wages Order 2020 will remain in place until a new order is introduced.

During the interim period agricultural workers must continue to be paid:

  • at least the Agricultural Minimum Wage, or
  • the National Minimum/Living Wage if that’s higher.

Due to increases to the National and Living Minimum Wage rates introduced on 1 April the current minimum hourly rates of pay are:

Grade Hourly rate
Grade 1 worker of compulsory school age £3.60
Grade 1 worker (aged 16 to 20) £7.84
Grade 1 worker (aged 21 to 22) £8.36*
Grade 1 worker (aged 23+) £8.91*
Grade 2 worker £8.91*
Grade 3 worker £8.91*
Grade 4 worker £9.53
Grade 5 worker £10.06
Grade 6 worker £10.83
Year 1 apprentice £4:30*
Year 2 apprentice (aged 16 to 17) £4.37
Year 2 apprentice (aged 18 to 20) £6.56
Year 2 apprentice (aged 21 to 22) £8.36*
Year 2 apprentice (aged 23+) £8.91*

* indicates those that have increased to the National Minimum/Living Wage.

These rates, and agricultural workers’ other terms and conditions set out in the 2020 Order will remain until the 2021 Order comes into force.

This webpage will be updated when the new order is made.
