Advice and guidance for Aberystwyth University initial teacher applicants in academic year 2024 to 2025.
Contents
The following information is for applicants who have applied to Aberystwyth initial teacher education (ITE) Partnership and accepted an offer to study a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at Aberystwyth ITE Partnership from September 2024.
Aberystwyth ITE Partnership has not been successfully reaccredited to deliver ITE with qualified teacher status (QTS) and has withdrawn its PGCE provision for academic year 2024 to 2025. If you have applied to Aberystwyth ITE Partnership and received an offer of a place from this September this will be withdrawn by the university.
Finding an alternative ITE programme
There are 6 alternative ITE Partnerships located across Wales who offer a variety of courses in primary and secondary teaching through the medium of Welsh or English. You can approach them directly to transfer your application.
Visit Educators Wales or UCAS and explore the programmes on offer to you.
You should then contact any alternative providers you may be interested in by direct email and include ‘Aber application transfer’ in your subject bar.

Transferring your offer of a place
If you have accepted an offer from Aberystwyth University as a firm or insurance choice already please contact them to agree to the changes that are needed. They will then inform UCAS of this.
If you have not had a response to your original Aberystwyth University application or are holding an offer but haven’t yet replied, please contact UCAS directly by telephone to notify them of your new choice.
UCAS are aware of the situation and are ready to help you transfer your application across as easily as possible. You can contact them on 0371 468 0468.
The Open University ITE Partnership does not use UCAS. If you have decided to transfer your application to the Open University ITE Partnership they will work with you through their application process.
Student finance
If you have already made an application for student finance and have stated that you are studying at Aberystwyth University this can be amended. You can make changes to your course and university via your online account.
