This report provides an overview of participants’ discussions and suggestions collected during Y Gynhadledd Fawr.

Y Gynhadledd Fawr was a public conversation on the future of the Welsh language following the 2011 Census results on the Welsh language.

A number of activities took place between May and June 2013 to gather public opinion, including:

  • 8 local discussion groups throughout Wales
  • 13 discussion groups that were drawn from among the Government’s partners
  • an opportunity for the public and for organisations to respond to an online survey
  • various opportunities to submit comments via a number of channels, including both old and new technologies.

IAITH: Welsh centre for language planning (external link) have drafted this report. They were responsible for facilitating the consultation process.
