This TAN sets out the procedures that should be followed when designating Simplified Planning Zones.

A Simplified Planning Zone is one way in which an authority can help secure development or redevelopment of part of its area, providing certainty and allowing the developer or landowner to avoid delays in the planning applications process.

The TAN provides advice on making a Simplified Planning Zone, including the selection of areas, extent of permission, exclusions and conditions and limitations during the process of designation.
