This document indicates which areas are covered by Unitary Development Plans and Local Development Plans and what stage the plans are at.

Wales has a plan-led system. Each Local Planning Authority must prepare a Local Development Plan. The plan sets out the Local Planning Authority’s proposals and policies for future development and use of land in its area. Once the plan has been adopted, decisions on planning permissions will be mostly based on the Local Development Plan. The Local Development Plan provides some certainty about what kind of development will and will not be permitted during the plan period.

The latest Local Development Plan to be adopted is: Cardiff Council in January 2016.
