This guidance supports the advice contained in the revised Technical Advice Note 20: Planning and the Welsh language.

The guidance is not prescriptive. It offers planning  authorities advice on how Welsh language considerations can be incorporated into the preparation and review of Local Development Plans (LDPs).

Strategies, policies and site allocations contained within an LDP are subject to a Sustainability Appraisal. By integrating Welsh language objectives into that process, it can be ensured the language’s interests are addressed over the LDP’s 10 to 15 year lifetime.

This guidance should be read in conjunction with Technical Advice Note 20, Planning Policy Wales and relevant documents in the guidance.
