We have commissioned research into the planning implications of using land for renewable and low carbon energy developments.

The ‘Planning Implications of Renewable and Low Carbon Energy Development research is expected to conclude early in 2010. Land Use Consultants and the Centre for Sustainable Energy are the appointed consultant.

We have also commissioned Arup to carry out research in order to re-affirm the capacities of the Strategic Search Areas identified in Technical Advice Note (TAN) 8.

These two pieces of research are different in scope and outcomes, but their results will inform the review of TAN 8 which is will start in 2010.
