This update reviews the existing Regional Technical Statements for Aggregates and clarifies the role of the Regional Aggregate Working Parties and status of the Regional Technical Statements.

Minerals Technical Advice Note 1: Aggregates (2004) (MTAN 1) requires a Regional Technical Statement (RTS) be prepared in each Regional Aggregate Working Party (RAWP) area. It is envisaged that each RTS should be reviewed every five years.

Statements for both south and north Wales were completed in 2008. A first review of these documents is currently underway.
