This study analyses the planning for sustainable buildings policy and Technical Advice Note (TAN 22).

The review is being undertaken in light of the changes to Part L of the Building Regulations which come into force from 31 July 2014. These changes will require reductions in greenhouse gas emissions of 8% for new homes and 20% for non-domestic buildings.

The review covers the requirements of the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology (BREEAM) and Code for Sustainable Homes to see if they could be included in further Building Regulations or planning guidance.
