Planning permission has been granted subject to conditions.

This application was for the extension to the existing dairy unit at Lower Leighton Farm, Leighton, Welshpool, Powys. The application included:

  • proposed milking parlour
  • livestock cubicle buildings
  • fodder storage buildings
  • slurry stores
  • water storage tower
  • landscaping highways improvements
  • land to be given to Leighton community.

The planning application was subject to a public inquiry. The Inspector appointed to hold the inquiry prepared a report for the Minister for Housing and Regeneration.

The Minister disagreed with the Inspector’s recommendation that planning permission should be refused.
