A Ministerial Taskforce has been set up to improve prosperity in the South Wales valleys.

What is the taskforce?

The Minister for Lifelong Learning, the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and the Minister for Skills, have joined together, with a group of expert advisors, to develop a fresh approach to delivering real change in the valleys.

The taskforce will build upon work previously undertaken in a more coordinated and targeted way which will meet the needs of our valley communities.

Who is on the taskforce?

Members of the taskforce are:

  • Minister for Skills and Science, Julie James AM
  • Ann Beynon, Chair of the Cardiff City Region Board
  • Andrew Diplock, Entrepreneur, business advisor and Angel Investor
  • Judith Evans, Principal, Coleg Y Cymoedd
  • Dr Chris Jones, Interim Chair of Health Education and Improvement Wales
  • Martin Mansfield, General Secretary, Wales TUC
  • Cllr Andrew Morgan, Council Leader, Rhondda Cynon Taf
  • Professor Brian Morgan, Cardiff University
  • Jocelyn Davies, Former Plaid Cymru Deputy Minister for Housing and Regeneration
  • Fiona Jones, Director of Work Services Wales and National Employer and Partnership Team, Department for Work and Pensions
  • Joanne Foster, Government and Business Relations Leader, UK, GE Aviation
  • Gaynor Richards, Director, Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Service

The taskforce meets quarterly.
