The Welsh Government and its partners are fully committed to playing our part in the resettlement of Syrian refugees.

As part of the initial UK-wide Syrian resettlement programme, refugees have been welcomed to Wales since early December 2015. By the end of March 2017 all local authorities in Wales will be engaged in this programme and will have welcomed refugees.

A taskforce has been set up to co-ordinate the arrival and integration of the refugees, which includes health, local government, the third sector, the private sector, the Home Office and police.

All agencies are committed to working together to ensure the process goes smoothly, building on the services already in place to welcome asylum seekers and refugees to Wales.

Further information is available on the following external sites: gov.uk where a fact sheet on resettlement  can be downloaded; the Local Government Association, and the Syrian Association in Wales. In addition, the Home Office has also published a webpage for members of the public to understand how they can support resettlement – How you can help refugees coming to the UK.
