Rent Officers Wales

Rent Officers Wales is a part of the Housing Division of the Welsh Government. We value residential accommodation in the Private Rented Sector in Wales and provide an independent and impartial valuation service of residential properties.

Rent Officers Wales:

  • Gather rental information and analyse local rental markets to provide Local Authorities with Local Housing Allowance figures;
  • Provide advice to Local Authorities in assessing claims for Housing Benefit made before 7th April 2008; and
  • Undertake Fair Rent valuations for regulated tenancies

Why we are needed?

If tenants need assistance paying their rent and require Housing Benefit (Local Housing Allowance), the amount given to them is based on letting information. We collect local market rental information to ensure that the LHA informationwhich we provide to the local authorities on a monthly basisis up-to-date and representative.

How you can help?

To ensure all our valuations are based on current open market rents, we need to constantly gather information. Our market rental evidence teams are in regular contact with landlords and letting agents to gather information about the private letting market. We rely upon private landlords to provide us with up-to-date information.
