The EMFF offers support for the following:

Diversification and new forms of income

Support is available for:

  • the development of complementary activities which relate to the fisherman’s core fishing business

Limitation of the impact of fishing on the marine environment and adaptation of fishing to the protection of species:

Support is available for:

  • purchasing more selective gear and equipment

Energy efficiency and mitigation of climate change – On board investments:

Support is available for improving the energy efficiency of fishing vessels and fishing activity through:

  • on-board investments
  • energy efficiency audits and schemes
  • studies

Grant Amounts

The amount of grant offered would relate to individual circumstances and would always be the minimum amount necessary to allow the project to go ahead, subject to a minimum of £2,400.

Applications will not be accepted from organisations, businesses or individuals who:

  • have been convicted of fraud under the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) or the EMFF
  • have been convicted of a ‘serious infringement’ or fraud in the 12 months before applying
