Animal and Plant Health Agency offices
The agency was formed on 1 October 2014, following the merger of Animal Health and the Veterinary Laboratories Agency with Plant Health.
Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is an executive agency working on behalf of:
- Welsh Government
- Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)
- Scottish Government.
It's role is to safeguard animal health and welfare as well as public health. It also protects the economy and enhance food security through research, surveillance and inspection.
APHA continues to operate from its existing:
- field offices
- investigation centres
- border inspection posts at ports and airports.
