This section describes how we support Apprenticeships in Wales.
Traineeships are a new learning programme for young people aged between 16-18 years old in Wales.
£25m of European funding has been approved to support the continuation of our Jobs Growth Wales programme.
The events bring together young people, business leaders and other stakeholders to discuss specific issues.

The aim is to get a better understanding of each other’s views and opinions on various policy issues.

The events are highly interactive and engaging with questions alongside facilitated table discussions. It is vital that we get the right mix of people at the event so we have a balanced view across all stakeholders.

The next 'Real Conversation' will be taking place on:

Thursday 29 September 2016, Cardiff

Discussion topic: Welsh Language: How does it work for you?

There are a limited number of places available. To avoid disappointment, place a booking via our online booking form or contact the event team at

About the event

We are calling on Employers, young people and other professionals, to take part in our next Real Conversation. We want to explore the  benefits and opportunities of using Welsh language in the world of work  and consider how any perceived or real barriers can be overcome.

By sharing your insight and raising concerns with policy makers, you will help support and inform the Welsh Government’s vision of  one million people speaking Welsh by 2050, ensuring that the future workforce in Wales are equipped with the skills and attitudes to help fulfil their potential, whatever future career choices they make.

For young people (aged 14-25)

Young person at eventThe event is a fantastic opportunity for young people to meet local employers and business leaders to discuss current opportunities to use the language to gain employment. It will also provide an opportunity for young people to speak directly with decision makers to understand what employers expect from young people and what language skills they are really looking for to help their business be successful.

For employers

Employer at eventWhether you currently use Welsh everyday as part of your business activities or have no knowledge of the use of Welsh within employment, it will be a great opportunity for you to help raise awareness of how the language is currently being used in the world of work and how it has impacted on your business. You will also gain honest insight into what barriers young people are currently experiencing and the impact this may be having on their career paths.

For other professionals

Advisor at eventWe want to ensure that young people across Wales are equipped with the right skills and attitude, so they can fulfil their potential whatever choices they make in their future working lives.
We have a limited number of places for other professionals with an interest in this agenda; prioritised for those who can bring along groups of young people, or who can facilitate employer engagement.

If you are interested, we are keen for you to get in touch.
