Arts in Education in the Schools of Wales
The independent report on the Arts in Education in the Schools of Wales was published on 25 September 2013.
This report was jointly commissioned by the Minister for Education and Skills and the then Minister for Housing Regeneration and Heritage. It was the first report to look in depth at the relationship between the arts and education sectors in Wales. The Welsh Government welcomes the report and its recommendations.
Our initial response to each of the 12 recommendations is set out in the document below. Our detailed plan for implementing the recommendations will be set out in a National Plan for Creative Learning, to be issued later this year. The Minister for Education and Skills and the Minister for Culture and Sport have expressed their commitment to working closely with the arts and education sectors, and other key partners, in taking forward this vital agenda.
The Welsh Government has remitted Estyn to undertake a best practice review of the arts in schools, beginning in 2014.
