A public declaration of what we want to achieve for the Welsh language.

Providers are responsible for managing and improving the quality of their own delivery.

Self-assessment reports give us a vital source of evidence on providers’ activities and their response to our priorities but we have no desire to collect information that is not used in a meaningful way.

As we develop the core indicators for the Quality and Effectiveness Framework, these will be incorporated into self-assessment guidance.  It is expected that, providers will use their quality development plans to show how they are addressing any areas of weakness.  However, we may ask a provider to submit a specific action plan where there are particular concerns about its performance or progress.

Estyn and ourselves have worked together to develop joint self-evaluation guidance and toolkits to help providers in undertaking self-assessment within the shared context of Quality and Effectiveness Framework and the Common Inspection Framework.
