Welsh in Education Strategic Plans Workshop: Wednesday 23 March 2011

The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) published its Welsh-medium Education Strategy in April 2010. One of the Strategy’s main objectives is to introduce a new planning framework for Welsh-medium and Welsh-language education which will be led by WAG but delivered by local authorities.

Date of Event: 23/03/2011

A national workshop to consult on the guidance for formulating the Welsh in Education Strategic Plans will be held at The Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells on Wednesday 23 March 10.30am – 4.00pm.

To book a place at the event, please access our online booking form.

The new framework will replace the current Welsh Education Schemes which are submitted to the Welsh Language Board. Under the new system, local authorities will be expected to present Welsh in Education Strategic Plans to WAG and agree on annual targets.

The WAG will publish draft guidance for formulating the Welsh in Education Strategic Plans in March 2011. The guidance will outline the requirements for developing these Plans and the methods that WAG will adopt to monitor performance against targets. The finalised guidance will be published during summer 2011.

The purpose of the workshop is to give local authorities an opportunity to contribute to the discussion and to ensure that the guidance is suitable and fit for purpose. There will also be an opportunity to discuss local and regional differences.

We would like to invite two representatives from each local authority to the workshop.

Here you can register for a place at the workshop and ensure you contribute to this important development in Welsh-medium education.
